Hidden away up the back staircase of the Exmouth Arms, you will find 5cc – London’s newest craft cocktail bar
As you ascend the staircase and pass the kitchen, you are transported a world away from the traditional London pub located downstairs. With with low-lit copper bars, dark wood, leather and exposed brickwork, the bar has a very intimate atmosphere to it, making it a perfect spot for a date or nightcap.
5cc specialise in vintage liquors sourced from independent and boutique suppliers, which lends itself well to the creative cocktail menu. In particular we recommend their twist on the Negroni, the Right Hand, in which they replace the gin with sweet rum; or the Lavender Fizz, which has the kick of a martini. They have also attempted to move away from common bar snacks, with their menu consisting solely of a carefully selected range of oysters that come served with a host of unexpected and unusual accompaniments.
Operations Manager, Alexander Wolpert explained the concept behind 5cc, saying ‘We have created an environment where customers can enjoy good old fashioned, honest drinks in an intimate and friendly space. There are a lot of cocktail bars that have unnecessary and distracting theatrics – we want to focus on serving great, interesting drinks. We are really proud of what we have achieved with 5cc’.
5cc is part of the Barworks portfolio that also includes Two Floors, The Well and Bucket and Exmouth Arms. Located within Exmouth Arms, Exmouth Market and The Well and Bucket on Bethnal Green Road both 5cc bars are open Tuesday to Sunday, from six pm until midnight.
