Andres Gonzalez is a photographer and educator that splits his time between Istanbul, Turkey and Portland, Maine where he teaches at the Salt Institute for Documentary Studies. We have been keeping an eye on his work since Canon Italia awarded him with the Canon Young Photographer’s Prize in 2009.
He recently started a Kickstarter project to fund his upcoming book – Somewhere.
The photography book will take the viewer on a journey in the most concrete and abstract sense of the word. The photographs were taken in different locations around the world as varied as Norway, Ukraine, Namibia, and Mexico. The book is both a mediation on the magical qualities of each place, and an experiment in visual narrative.
Somewhere will be a quiet and contemplative book, but without losing a strong grounding in the real world. It’s been designed as a gentle, yet outspoken object, by award winning Dutch designer Sybren Kuiper
We can’t wait to see the finished result!
